We started with just a couple to taste them. They were a little crunchy. Lawman likes his peaches a little crunchy, but Cupcake says "The Outlaw" does too, so we waited for them to ripen up a little. Just because we don't want to have anything in common with the outlaws.
So after a week, we picked about a half of a basket full. We chopped up the first ones and made peach pancakes for Saturday breakfast.
This year is the first year we have had mature peaches, so they are not very big. We expected that. We will probably pick the rest next week and make jelly with them.
Sunday we had the regular breakfast, with our canned apples, because it feels like fall this week.
It rained most of the week. When it rains we like to stay inside and cook. Before it started raining we picked another batch of tomatoes from the garden and made another gallon of tomato soup and canned it up.
We don't know why everyone wouldn't raise their own basil |
Since we couldn't get out, Lawman had time to catch up on a couple of shack bitch duties he's been putting off. One of those things was cleaning the chicken wing deep fryer. It was looking a little gross lately, so Lawman drained it and scrubbed it down with our homemade laundry detergent.
While we were spending time on the front porch we noticed a buck has joined the pumpkin patch wreckers.
After the deep fryer got all cleaned up we were looking forward to fresh oil and crispy wings for Sunday night. We were foiled, because apparently there is some sort of school sponsored athletic contest this weekend, and we couldn't find a single pack of chicken wings in town. Just another reason to not approve of college football.
So in a forced break of tradition, we fixed pizza for Sunday night.
