Some of y'all may have heard, we had a hurricane pass through this past week? We didn't get much of the weather they called for, maybe a couple of inches of rain and a little wind. But the wind we did get was enough to knock down another tree in the family cemetery. Go team us.
We worked the tree up and got it all cleaned up in under an hour, because we're a well oiled machine. That same day, Cupcake picked a five gallon bucket full of grapes. She always likes to tell the story about how "The Outlaw" cut down her grandmother's grape vine because he was tired of mowing around it, then tried to plant new ones to replace it, because he missed having grapes each year. Sucks to be him.We juiced the grapes the next day and kept the juice in the fridge until the weekend. And because we are a well oiled machine, we made seven batches of jelly in under three hours.
Twenty pints and sixteen "gift jars" of jelly later. We think we're good on grape jelly now, even if "The Boy" eats at least one PB&J sammich a day.
Other goings on this week, we celebrated Labor Day out in the camper. We did a little fire pit, and did some fire pit cooking.
We did pizza, because fire pit pizza rocks.
While we were out enjoying the evenings around the fire, the DT's got thrown off their routine, so they pulled up a big piece of real estate and caught a nap while we drank adult beverages and told lies about women.
We did a non-fire pit related meal this week. Crab cakes. Lawman remembers some spot in the People's Republic of Maryland was famous for their baseball size crab cakes. He forgets the name of the spot, but he always tries to make baseball size crab cakes when he makes crab cakes. These won't win any fame, but they didn't go to waste either. It wasn't bad for claw meat cakes. Jumbo lump is hard to come by in BFE.We ended the week with a visit from "The Girl" and "The Boy-in-law" and BB1. We missed our naps.
