Chicks and Cheesecake

We were pretty busy this week, but mostly because it was the end of the month and Cupcake was working 12-16 hour days. Lawman played shackbitch this week, keeping the domestic duties off Cupcake while she brings home the Benjamin's.
We are going to lead off with a good news/bad news kind of thing, this was week three for the lavender eggs we parked under our broody bird. Thursday they began to "pip" and by Friday we had two new chicks.
The bad/sad news is the two that did hatch, died by the end of the first day. Farm life will throw you a curve ball from time to time.
We move on from it, because by Monday morning a new shipment of already hatched/sexed chicks will be on their way to us.
Early on in the week, Lawman went to town to do some trading. While making his rounds, he came upon a cheesecake pan. From scratch cheesecake has been on his "to do" list for a while and an impulse buy was made. The next day he got to scratching that off his list.

Farm fresh eggs, could only make it better

It tastes as good as it looks
And running the house like an Army quartermaster, Lawman realized we were almost out of wing sauce. So during a rainy day, he whipped up another gallon and canned it.

A new food related item is chopped kale. It's not all that new, we've been having it once a week for a month or so now, but Cupcake has come to love it.
And a project that has been needed doing got done this week. An apple tree at the entrance to our family cemetery had a limb break over the winter, and the limb fell across a fence. We waited until we caught a warm sunny day, and this weekend we had just that. We saved the apple wood for future pig smoking.

And lastly this week, we did a little log home maintenance. Staining the house seems to roll around more frequently than it should, but when we both work on it together, we really get stuff done.
We got the back of the house, and front/back of the garage done. Then we took turns holding the step ladder and stained the outside the deck. Now we have the hard part knocked out, we can do the rest of the deck at our leisure.
We even had time left over to mow the yard.
We ended the week with wings. And Motrin.
