Bee Happy

It was honey harvest week at The Acre. We've been seeing local honey popping up here and there so we thought we'd be a part of that. Lawman cracked open the hive and went to work on a record breaking heat index day.

We only harvested two bars of honey, we would rather leave too much than take too much. We like our bees, we'd like to keep them around. Two bars made a little over a quart of strained honey.

Cupcake made biscuits to put our fresh harvested honey on for breakfast. It rocked.
Following up from last weeks post, we used up the leftover apples to make a batch of apple sauce.

We found a gallon jug of steel cut oats, so we made a fresh batch of oatmeal cookies with them.

And we started digging the sweet potatoes. This is one hill.
It's been a very dry second half of the summer, so they didn't spread out as much as they have been in past years, but we hope to get at least a bushel when we get them all out of the ground.
By Sunday we had rain in the forecast, so we stayed in and opened up one of the last jars of deer chili we had left over from last season's canning. And we made the first pumpkin roll of the season for dessert this coming week.

We ended the week with a nap.
