Hail to the Chief

We didn't have much to report on this week, but thank goodness "The Boy" was busy.

First off, he passed his EMT test so he is now a state certified EMT. He passed on his first try, it's kind of a big deal.

Second, officer voting was this past week for officers at Floyd Station #3, and Jacob was elected high chief. He has been with Station 3 since he was old enough to join, sixteen. In a short nine years he has been elected engineer, 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant, Captain, and now High Chief. He's held down a full time job for his entire tenure, and still manages to run more calls than most people in the house. And proud of him, we all are.

As for us old people, there wasn't much to report on. Lawman cleaned out the coop and put another load of duck poop on the barn garden. Cupcake whipped up a couple of good meals this week.

First off, baked burritos

Then we got serious with a country dinner of Polish sausage, kraut, cornbread and fried potato pancakes.
And not that 'from a box' Crazy Granny cornbread either, this is scratch made, so is the kraut.
Cupcake hinted around that she would like a batch of Baby Ruth cookies, and when Lawman didn't get the hint, he found her in the kitchen chopping up leftover Baby Ruth candy bars from Halloween. Lawman got the hint and got busy.

The first time we make a new recipe we follow the letter of the law, because a wise Alphageek once told us "Cooking is an art, baking is a science." Next time we make it our own. Lawman says this recipe needs more flour, or less butter. Tinkering is half the fun.
Lastly this week, we are still doing most of our meals on the Blackstone. There's nothing like doing an entire meal at one time in a few minutes.
If you have the means, we highly recommend you pick one up. It's so choice.
We ended the week with a couple of naps and got to bed at a reasonable hour, because daylight savings is over, and the chickens are in the coop by 1700. As it should be.
