Turnip for What?

We may be easing in to winter, but the garden is still producing dinner for us. A couple of times a week we pick fresh turnips, turnip greens, collards and cabbage.

We were today old when we learned that if you don't pull the root of the cabbage, it will sprout new heads for late picking.

We had to get the picking out of the way early this week, because we got over five inches of rain in the middle of the week.

We are so glad we hired the neighbor to fix the road down to the ponds. If you need any earth moving work done, be sure to contact Cody Earles for top notch work.
While we were hunkered down during the rain, Lawman transplanted our five year old basil from the root water to dirt.

Last week, Lawman butchered some pig meat. This week we broke into the last box of Waffle House bacon we had in the freezer. He cut it up into smaller bags for weekend breakfast in the coming months.

And speaking of breakfast, the Sunday biscuit skillet is getting bigger each week. The Dudley Twins love them some fresh baked biscuits Sunday morning, and leftovers get used as "nite nite" treats.
In Dudley news, there was a new development this week. At least five times a day, Lawman runs the DT's over to the barn then down by the ponds. The trek is a half mile, and it keeps the pups worn down. Worn down pups don't destroy as much as cooped up pups, we have learned.
Anywho, this week Augustus got to jumping up on the 4 wheeler like he was going to drive himself. Cupcake decided to see if he would actually ride on it. He would not. But, Willow jumped up on the back seat and went for a ride like she knew what she was doing.
This riled Augustus up, he seemed to think it was his idea and she was hogging the seat. He never would stay on board while it was moving, but he hung on to the side so Cupcake couldn't move. Willow got tired of waiting for another ride and jumped off.
We ended the week with wings. And a nap.
