We're so Jelly

This was the week Cupcake has been waiting for since the fruit trees started blooming last spring. Christmas jam.

Since we are wired not to waste anything here at The Acre, Christmas Jam is right in our wheelhouse. You take leftover fruit, tidbits too small to do anything with, and freeze it. Then when you have all the fruit saved up, you dump it all in the juicer and make jelly out of what comes out. Every year it's different, because the fruit and amounts change year to year. This year we have......

Cherries

Bush cherries

Blueberries

Strawberries

Viking Berries

Goji Berries

Rhubarb

Apples

Peaches

Pears

Persimmons

Plums

Grapes

Pineapples

Cranberries

This year we made fifty six jars of jelly. In one afternoon.

After we made the Christmas jelly, we made Cranberry sauce and cranberry jelly.
As is tradition, Cupcake recited the story of "The year Cookie didn't get Thanksgiving.'
Long story short, Crazy Granny earned her nickname and brought a can of store bought cranberry jelly with her every holiday.
We made six pints of each, then stored it all in the new cabinet. Cupcake found new jelly jars that she calls "The Baby Yoda of jelly jars" because they are just so stinking cute. And they fit in the short shelves of the cabinet, so it's a win/win.
We are bursting at the seams here at The Acre, so bring on harsh winters. We're ready.
And on the ready front, Lawman butchered some pig this week. Not really, we just bought a tenderloin and some ribs that we sliced up and froze packages of for dinners over the next couple of months.

Chicken dinners means chicken broth.

Cupcake got the baking bug this week and made a double batch of muffins.
We ended this week with wings, which happened to fall on our anniversary. Being married to your best friend makes everyday a holiday.
