Snowed Inn

We got a lite dusting of snow early in the week, then we got a "keep us at home" snow to end the week. Well, for the most part. We went over to Pop's to dig him out Sunday morning, but that was as far as we went.

The Dudley Twins love, love, LOVE snow. They bounce around like Tigger until they just lay down in the snow waiting for us to carry them back to the house. We don't spoil them quite that bad. Yet.

The snowblower finally got to come out and play this week. It's been three years since we got any use out of it.

Since we were snowed in, we did your typical snowed in meals. Veggie beef soup in the crock pot.

Lawman's soon to be famous baked burritos

We had to make another pecan pie.
Sunday morning, Cupcake asked for scratch made chocolate donuts. That's what she got. Not the "Crazy Granny" donuts, store bought on a plate.

And later in the day, The Boy asked for preacher cookies for the coming week's lunches.

Then on a spoiling the dogs note, we let them watch TV in the bedroom with us for the last hour or so before bedtime.

We ended the week with a nap, and wings

Two Pecan Pies, One for each Hand

This week we were binge watching The Soprano's because Cupcake has never seen the show. We were between episodes when a video popped up on Cupcake's Faceplace news feed. She follows Pinky Ma's posts, and they were droning on and on while making a pie. Lawman caught bits and pieces until one of the ladies said "What did that take me, like ten minutes to make?"

This peaked Lawman's interest, because his grandmother would make pecan pie, and would just toss it together in a few minutes and it has never been replicated in his lifetime. So after memorizing the recipe he struck out the next morning to make one. The ladies used store bought pie crust, ala "Crazy Granny" but that's not how Lawman rolls.

He started out with his own buttermilk pie crust.

It took us three days to eat. We felt so bad about eating a whole pie that Cupcake ordered up another pie for the weekend.

Both grandmothers would be proud, we feel certain.
We finally got around to going to the Class six store this week to buy some liquor to make our Christmas vanilla.

We are really looking forward to boiled custard this season.
We roasted another round of coffee beans. This time we roasted them a full hour. This may be the key to good coffee. We go without creamer with this batch.
On a food related note this week, the Dudley Twins are the stars. Cupcake gets up every morning and fixes four scrambled eggs, and we usually have a leftover sweet potato or roasted chicken to add to the dog food bowls.
Augustus favorite is chicken. He makes himself comfortable while he waits for the help to prepare his meal.
I am: King Shit of Turdville
We ended the week by cleaning out the kids junk room, the garage, a nap, and wings.

Nothing Much, How 'Bout You?

We didn't do a whole lot this week. We whipped up a couple dinners in the crock pot and stayed in most of the week. We are however, quite proud of "The Girl" as she adopts the prepper lifestyle. She has started packing her meals for the days she works, and is pretty dog gone good at it.

She prepped three meals all at once and put them in microwave containers, then used quart jars to make oatmeal for breakfast. Now she just has to slide down the "Bat Pole" grab her bag and head to town.
Our one meal picture this week is a scratch made pizza. Cupcake browned the sausage and Lawman whipped up the crust and let it rise all day. We used the homemade sauce, and it's the best one yet.
We got another snow this week. We still love us some snow.

One of the down sides to snow is, Cupcake's butt gets cold when we both go out to run the DT's in the snow. Lawman did some interweb searching, and found a heated seat cover for the 4 wheeler. It had to be hard wired into the battery, but it was a quick job.

Now she can enjoy the trip around the farm as much as the pups do.
Before we knew it, the week was over. We ended it with wings, and a nap.
